Drug Cartel in Mexico Blocks Roads in Monterrey-Monterrey is the richest city in Mexico. However, drug-related violence has been increasing in number since Los Zetas extended their operations there.
Mexico police reported that members of a drug cartel barricaded at least 13 routes in Monterrey on Saturday.
According to reports, drivers were dragged out of their vehicles by armed men and used their cars to block the roads in the north-eastern city.
The blockade happened after a shootout between the Mexican army and alleged members of a drug cartel in the south of Monterrey, in which four people were shot as they tried to escape for the fifth time.
The shootout happened when soldiers on patrol chased two suspicious armored cars.
One of the armored cars crashed and the alleged members of a drug cartel opened fire on the soldiers.
El Sonrics the alleged leader of one of Mexico’s most powerful and violent drug cartels was killed in the shootout.
When Hector Raul Luna the former leader of Los Zetas was captured in June, El Sonrics have taken over as the new leader.
Not QUITE as bad as Meg heard.
