North Korea Allegedly Mistreated World Cup Players and Coach -An investigation will be conducted by FIFA over the reported allegations that North Korea punished and abused some players and as well the coach after their poor performance in the World Cup.
It has been reported that some of them were humiliated in front of the public and were subjected to six-hour interrogation by government officials and coach Kim Jong-hun has been sentenced to hard labor after their team lost all their matches in the World Cup.
Sepp Blatter, Fifa president said, “We contacted them to discuss the election of a new president, and if they are true, the allegations made by the media that the coach and some players have been condemned or punished.”
He added, “The first step is the federation and we’ll see what the answer will be, and then we can elaborate on that.”
The World Cup in South Africa was the first tournament of North Korea since 1966.
